What will set off airport metal detectors?
I’m not trying to sneak anything through, but it’d make me nervous setting the alarm off. I don’t like drawing attention to myself.
I have a magnet necklace that I might be wearing. On clasped it is 30 or 36 inches (long right?).
I don’t know what ring i’m going to wear (though they usually make you take that stuff off right?) and earrings (white gold, nickel, and gold).
I don’t think any of that wills set off an alarm… but I don’t really know about the magnet necklace.
Or should I put it in my carry on, or will that disrupt the x-ray?
Okay, for smart .. er.. butts. Heh. My necklace? It IS magnetic. There is no clasp actualy. It’s magnets beeds and plastice string/twine. To ‘clasp’ the necklace’ you place two strands or two ends together to meet and it holds it.. because it’s a magnent.

Actually you can’t.
They’ll give you a plastic large plastic tray. You’ll empty out your pockets. Take everything out of you .. belts, watches, cameras, rings, jewellery, necklace, pens, etc & put in a tray which goes into the tube for X-ray.
All the airports do this. Safe & secure. Cause done in full view of public. And in view of security cameras. But if you are afraid that things get lost. Bring a plastic bag & chuck everything into it before it goes into the plastic bin. So loose items are all trapped in one bag and all can see. And you collect all your things, at the end of the tube, in one clear bag.
